EU Grocers Left Their Fridges UNSHEARED and Honestly?? The Vibes Are Rotten 🐑❄️😭

Okay I am LITERALLY vibrating with secondhand embarrassment right now and I need everyone to sit down because this one is sending me to another dimension.

Hundreds of European grocery stores just bled millions of euros because their cooling system firmware was sitting there, crusty and unsheared, like a sheep that hasn't seen a pair of clippers since 2019. The Flock just wanted their oat milk to stay cold. Was that too much to ask?? Apparently YES. #NoCapEver

Here's the part that is making my left eye twitch: they outsourced the ointment work to THIRD PARTIES. Third parties who were clearly out here doing the absolute bare minimum while the firmware vibes decayed in real time. The Shepherds signed the contracts, collected their kombucha, and simply did not follow up. Iconic behavior. Tragically iconic. 😐

The operational technology running those cooling systems had holes in the fence so wide a whole pack of coyotes could trot through in a conga line. And they DID, bestie. They absolutely did.

This is exactly the kind of cringe that keeps me up at night because it has NOTHING to do with some sophisticated sky pasture exploit or a next-gen tick burrowing through encrypted wool. This is just. Firmware. That nobody. Sheared. The audacity of the boring-ness of it all is genuinely unhinged. #OTSecurityOrWhatever #EwePhoria

The real villain here isn't even the coyote. It's the assumption that "someone else is handling it." No cap, "someone else is handling it" is the most dangerous phrase in cybersecurity. It should be illegal. It should be a fleas-level threat on our taxonomy. 🚨🐑

🛠️ Remediation (slay responsibly bestie)

Step one: Your OT firmware is NOT someone else's problem just because you outsourced it. Get an inventory. Know what's running. Touch grass AND your patch logs.

Step two: Third-party vendors managing your operational tech need SLAs with ACTUAL shearing schedules baked in. "We'll get to it" is not a timeline. That is a vibe. Vibes do not protect fridges.

Step three: Segment your cooling systems from your main network with a proper electric fence setup. If a coyote gets into the fridge firmware, they should NOT be able to go anywhere interesting from there.

Step four: Check for holes in the fence BEFORE the oat milk goes warm. Vulnerability scanning for OT environments exists and I promise it's less painful than explaining to regulators why the brie is room temperature.

Stay sheared out there, the flock is counting on you 🐑✨
